Kim Delaney, an American actor best known for her role as detective Diane Russell on ABC's NYPD Blue series, for which she was awarded an Emmy Award. She was born as the only child of a high-ranking executive in the United Auto Workers and a housewife, Delaney grew up with her four brothers. When she was a kid, Delaney dreamed of becoming a reporter for the court. She began modelling in high school and then gaining commercial opportunities when she relocated from the south of England to New York. In 1981, she starred as an innocent teenager in All My Children.
